Retrospections of Dorothea Herbert Book (COSDA Press)

Retrospections of Dorothea Herbert, Paperback €20

Based on the earliest published text, and enriched by material from the original manuscript, this volume reproduces the text of Dorothea Herbert’s ‘Retrospections of an Outcast’ alongside her 13 colour illustrations (for the first time in print) and her family tree. Together, they reveal a work that is as much a visual and imaginative creation as it is a written one.

Published by COSDA Press, as part of the ‘Tides of Time’ Visitor Centre and exhibition in Carrick-on-Suir, Co. Tipperary, this edition reconnects Herbert’s story with the place that shaped it, inviting readers to encounter her world in a fuller and more immediate way.

Mirador Media Win Tender to Deliver New Experience

Carrick-on-Suir Heritage Centre appointed Mirador Media to the Tides of Time visitor experience. Led by creative team members Marc, Mook, Sven and Beulah, the project is transforming the Heritage Centre into an immersive cultural destination featuring interactive storytelling, audio-visual experiences and community-driven exhibition spaces ahead of its planned launch.

How the experience came to life

Tides of Time was created to preserve, celebrate and share the rich cultural heritage of Carrick-on-Suir through an immersive and contemporary visitor experience. Developed within the restored St. Nicholas’ Church and historic grounds, the project brings together local history, storytelling, photography, artefacts and innovative digital interpretation to reconnect people with the town’s unique identity and relationship with the River Suir.

The experience was shaped through collaboration between historians, designers, artists, community groups and heritage specialists, with support from local and national partners. Funding through regeneration and cultural heritage initiatives has helped transform the site into a vibrant public space where history, memory and place can be explored in engaging and accessible ways.

Tides of Time reflects the resilience, creativity and enduring spirit of Carrick-on-Suir, creating a lasting cultural resource for future generations.

The Vision Behind Tides of Time

In 1982, Michael Coady described St. Nicholas’ Church as “the perfect setting for an imaginative and dynamic venture”, a place where Carrick-on-Suir could reconnect with its heritage, community and shared identity.

More than forty years later, that vision has been realised through the Tides of Time Experience. The restored church has become a vibrant cultural destination where history, storytelling, artefacts, music and memory come together in an immersive visitor experience.

What began as an appeal for restoration and hope has evolved into a living heritage centre that celebrates the people, spirit and resilience of Carrick-on-Suir for future generations to discover and enjoy.

The Creation of Tides of Time

Following a competitive tender process, the Tides of Time Experience was awarded to Mirador Media, an internationally recognised exhibition and immersive storytelling company.

Working closely with local stakeholders, historians and community groups, Mirador Media developed a creative vision that combines heritage, technology and personal stories to bring Carrick-on-Suir’s history to life. Their design approach blends interactive media, sound, artefacts and atmospheric interpretation within the restored St. Nicholas’ Church. The project reflects a shared ambition to create a world-class visitor experience rooted in the unique identity, culture and character of Carrick-on-Suir and the River Suir.
