The Tides of Time Heritage Centre Redevelopment Project transformed the Carrick-on-Suir Heritage Centre into an immersive cultural and visitor destination through an investment of €352,647 under Fáilte Ireland’s Regenerative Tourism and Placemaking Scheme, co-funded by the European Union’s Just Transition Fund and the Government of Ireland.
Creative Tides is a new open-call commissioning programme by Explore Carrick-on-Suir. We invite artists and creative practitioners to submit proposals for original works that creatively respond to the stories, themes, and heritage of Carrick-on-Suir and the Tides of Time Visitor Experience.
When Michael Coady wrote Heritage and Hope in 1982, he imagined St. Nicholas’ Church transformed into a living cultural space — a place of memory, creativity, research, storytelling and community connection. He believed the site could become “the informed setting for a dynamic present and a confident future.”
Today, that vision lives on through the Tides of Time Experience.
The restored church now welcomes visitors into an immersive journey through the people, stories and spirit of Carrick-on-Suir. What began as a hopeful appeal for restoration has evolved into a vibrant heritage destination that honours the town’s past while creating new opportunities for culture, tourism, education and community life.
