A newly restored edition of Retrospections of an Outcast, published by COSDA Press, bringing together Dorothea Herbert’s original text, illustrations, and family history in a single volume inspired by the Tides of Time exhibition in Carrick-on-Suir.
When Michael Coady wrote Heritage and Hope in 1982, he imagined St. Nicholas’ Church transformed into a living cultural space — a place of memory, creativity, research, storytelling and community connection. He believed the site could become “the informed setting for a dynamic present and a confident future.”
Today, that vision lives on through the Tides of Time Experience.
The restored church now welcomes visitors into an immersive journey through the people, stories and spirit of Carrick-on-Suir. What began as a hopeful appeal for restoration has evolved into a vibrant heritage destination that honours the town’s past while creating new opportunities for culture, tourism, education and community life.
